Aval Uppu Kozhukattai (Flatten Rice) Poha

Serving: 10 to 12 Pieces| Type: Vinayagar Chathurthi Special/Snack



Thick Aval(poha) -1cup
Oil -1tbsp
Mustard -1tsp
Channa dhal -1tbsp
Asafotida -¼tsp
Onion(Chopped) -½ cup
Grated Coconut -Hand full
Curry Leaves -1stack
Red chili -2
Salt To taste



  1. Wash the aval and drain the water and keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Mean time take a pan heat with oil and add seasonings fry without burning.
  3. Then add onion sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Then add it into the aval.
  5. And mix it everything well and make like kuzhalakattai and keep it aside.
  6. Then steam it for 5 minutes and turn off the stove.
  7. Then serve it with any chutney.


  1. Onion is optional.
