Chettinad Korada/Daunger (Tomato Onion Chutney)

Serving:  4 to 6  | Type: Chutney/Tiffin Side Disht1


Onion -1 big
Tomato -2 big
Salt -to taste
Chilli Powder -½ tsp (Optional)
Water -½ cup



Oil -4 tbsp
Mustard -1 tsp
Urad Dhal -½ tsp
Garlic (chopped) -2 cloves
Red Chili -1
Curry Leaves -few




  1. Take the pan and heat with oil, add mustard, urad dhal, curry leaves and red chili and fry it without burning it.
  2. Finely dice onion, garlic and tomato.
  3. Add onion and garlic and sauté well for 1 minute.
  4. Next add the tomatoes and salt and sauté well until tomato gets soft.
  5. Pour the water and allow it to boil down.
  6. The consistency should be semi-liquid.
  7. Turn off the stove.
  8. Serve with idly, dosa or vellai paniyaram.Korada_cook_closeup
