Chow Chow Mor Kootu(Chayote squash with Yogurt)

 

Serving:3 |Type: Veg-Side Dish

Ingredients:

Chow Chow -1(diced)
Green Chili -2 or 3
Cumin -1tsp
Grated Coconut -2tbsp
Rice flour -1tsp
Yogurt beaten ½ or 1cup
Salt -to taste

 

Seasoning:

Coconut Oil -1tsp
Mustard -½tsp
Urad Dhal -½tsp
Red Chili -1
Curry Leaves -few
Asafotida -pinch(optional)

Method:

  1. Grind green chili, coconut, cumin and rice flour with little water.
  2. Boil the chow chow with little water until soft,  then add salt.
  3. Then add ground paste cook it for 3 to 4 minutes, then add beaten yogurt.
  4. Take a pan heat with oil add seasoning fry without burning then add it into the boiled vegetable.
  5. Serve it like side dish for white rice.

Note:

  1. Instead of yogurt you can add low fat  sour cream it gives creaminess of the dish.
  2. Or half sour cream and half yogurt.
  3. This dish go with all variety rice’s.
