Ingredients:
| Spinach (chopped) | -3 cups |
| Thur Dhal (¾th Cooked) | -1 cup |
| Chili Powder | -1 tsp |
| Turmeric Powder | -1 tsp |
| Onion | -½ cup |
| Tomato | -½ cup |
| Tamarind extract | -2 tbsp |
| Salt | -to taste |
| Water | -½ to 1cup |
Seasoning:
| Oil | -1 tbsp |
| Mustard | -1 tsp |
| Urad Dhal | -1 tsp |
| Cumin | -1 tsp |
| Asafotida | -¼ tsp |
| Curry Leaves | -few |
| Red Chili | -1 |
| Green Chili | -1 |
Method:
- Dhal Cooking
- 3/4th Cooked
- Spinach cooked
- Ready to eat!
- In a pan, heat with oil, add all the seasoning and fry without burning.
- Next add onion, sauté until translucent.
- Then add tomato, turmeric powder and half of the salt.
- Let the tomatoes get smashed.
- Add the chopped spinach and sauté for 1-3 minutes.
- Then add the chili powder, tamarind extract with the water.
- Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Next add the cooked dhal and mix well.
- Then let it cook for another minute.
- Add rest of the salt and then turn off the stove
- Serve with white rice
Notes:
- For extra flavor you add garlic along with the onions.
- If you prefer a more liquid consistency add more water along with the tamarind extract.
