Ingredients:
| Raw Tomato | -1 cup(Diced) |
| Green Chili | -4(Slit) |
| Onion | -¼ cup(Diced) |
| Green Gram Dhal | -½ cup |
| Turmeric | -pinch |
| Salt | -to taste |
Seasoning:
| Oil | -1tsp |
| Mustard | -½tsp |
| Urad Dhal | -½tsp |
| Cumin | -¼tsp |
| Curry leaves | -few |
| Red Chili | -1 |
| Asafotida | -pinch |
Method:
- Boil the green gram dhal (pasi paruppu) and keep it aside.
- Take a pan heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning.
- Add onion, green chili sauté for 1 minute.
- Then add green tomato sauté 3 to 4 minutes, add turmeric and salt mix it well. Now add ½ cup of water.
- Cook until tomato get soft, then add cooked dhal and boil it for 2 minutes.
- Then add grated coconut, turn off the stove.
- Garnish with coriander leaves .
- Serve hot with white rice.
Note:
- If you can not find green tomato you can use tomatillo.
- You can get tomatillo at all American grocery.
- Grated coconut is optional.
