Ingredients:
| Raw Rice | -1cup |
| Thoor Dhal | -½ cup |
| Turmeric | -Pinch |
| Water | 5cups |
For Sambar:
| Mixed Vegetable | -3cups |
| Sambar Powder | -2tbsp |
| Tamarind | -Small lemon size |
| Turmeric | -¼tsp |
| Onion(optional) | -1 |
| Tomato(Medium size) | -2 |
| Oil | -3tbsp |
| Mustard | -1tsp |
| Red chili | -2 |
| Green Chili | -2 |
| Asafotida | -1tsp |
| Salt | -to taste |
| Curry leaves | -few |
| Ghee | -2tbsp(optional) |
Method:
- Mixed vegetables like eggplant, Drumstick, white pumpkin, carrot, green beans, peas, potato, bell pepper.
- If you add 2 or 3 okra taste is so good.
- Pressure cook rice and dhal together with water and turmeric for 3 whistles then keep it simmer for 5 to 8 minutes, then turn off the stove.
- Take a deep dish vessel heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning, then add onion, green chili sauté for a minute.
- Now add tomato sauté until tomato get smashed, then add vegetables sauté with salt and turmeric.
- Then add sambar powder mix well then add 3 cups of water.
- Meanwhile soak the tamarind with ½ cup of water and squeeze out the pulp and add it into the sambar.
- Boil it until all vegetables get soft, then turn off the stove.
- Open the pressure cooker mash the cooked rice, then add the sambar into it mix well.
- Cook for 10 minutes on medium flame , then add the ghee.
- Serve with appalam or chips.
