Serving: 4 | Type: Tiffin –Side Dish/ chutney/ Pillayar Nombu
Ingredients:
For Grind:
| Red Chili | -8 to 10 |
| Red Onion or shallot | -1 cup |
| Tomato | 1 cup |
| Tamarind | -small Gooseberry size |
| Garlic | -3 pods |
| Salt | -to taste |
Seasonings:
| Sesame Oil | -4 to 6tbsp |
| Mustard | -1tsp |
| Urad Dhal | -1tsp |
| Curry Leaves | -few |
| Onion(minced) | -2tbsp |
| Tomato(minced) | -1tbsp |
| Garlic(minced) | -1 |
Method:
- Grind the Ingredients given above.
- Not very fine paste but not too coarse.
- Take a pan, heat with oil, add seasonings and fry without burning.
- Then add onion, garlic sauté for a minute then add tomato sauté until tomato gets soft.
- Then add ground paste, cook until raw smell goes and chutney gets thick.
- Serve with idly, dosa or Vellai paniyaram.
Note:
- If you use red onion or shallot taste will be authentic.
- If you use any other onion please refer my chettinad Milagai chutney.
