Ingredients:
For Aappam:
Idly Rice | – 2 cups |
Long Grain | -2 cups |
Urad Dhal | -1/2 cup |
Fenugreek | -2tsp |
Salt | -2tbsp |
For Coconut Milk:
Coconut milk | – 2 cups |
Regular milk | -2 cups |
Sugar | -1 to 2 cups |
Cardamom Powder | -1 tsp |
Salt | -a pinch |
Method:
For Aappam
- Soak the rice, dhal and fenugreek all together for 4-5 hours.
- In a wet grinder, grind the soaked ingredients and add water little by little.
- Grind until the batter is nice and smooth.
- Then take out the batter and keep it aside.
- Add salt and mix it in nicely with your hand.
- This batter should not be very thick or very thin.
- Place the batter in a warm place and overnight or for about 8-10 hours.
- Now you are ready to make Aappam.
- Next heat Aappam pan on medium flame and pour a small ladle full of batter.
- Then swirl the aappam pan in a circular motion to make it into a circular shape.
- Close it with a lid for 1 minute.
- After a minute slowly lift the sides of the Aappam with a spatula and check if it cooked.
- Then remove the Aappam from heat.
- Serve with coconut milk
For Coconut milk:
- In the microwave, warm the regular milk for 3 minutes.
- Mix it with coconut milk, sugar, cardamom and salt all together.
- Then pour it over the aappam to make it nice and soggy.
- Enjoy!
