For Making Rawa:
Raw Rice | -1cup |
Thoor Dhal | -2tbsp |
Whole Pepper | -1tsp |

For upma:
Onion(chopped) | -½ cup(optional) |
Green Chili(slit) | -3 |
Curry Leaves | -few |
Coriander Leaves | -few(optional) |
Salt | -to taste |
Water | -3cups |
Grated Coconut | -2tbsp(optional) |
Seasoning:
Oil | -4 or 5tbsp |
Mustard | -½tsp |
Urad Dhal | -1tsp |
Channa Dhal | -2tbsp |
Asafotida | -¼tsp |
Method:
- Making a Rawa: Powder coarsely with first three things in the mixer and keep it aside.
- Take a pressure cooker heat with oil add seasoning fry without burning.
- Then add onion, green chili and curry leaves saute for 1 or 2 minutes .
- Now add Rice rawa fry it for medium flame about 3 to 4 minutes until it gets good aroma.
- Then add water , salt , grated coconut and coriander leaves.
- Cover the cooker with a lid let steam comes put the cooker weight on it.
- Let 2 whistle comes then turn off the stove.
- Let the cooker cool down open it and stir the upma .
- Serve hot with ghee and chutney.
Note:
- For Better taste use sona masoori rice.(water ratio1:3)
- If you use long grain rice reduce the water, otherwise upma will get mushy.(water ratio 1:2)
