Ingredients:
Raw mango | -1cup |
Veppamboo | -1tbsp |
Brown Sugar | -½ or ¾ cup |
Salt | -2pinch |
Water | -for boiling |
Cardamom Powder | -¼tsp(optional) |
Seasoning:
Oil | -1tsp |
Mustard | -¼tsp |
Cumin | -¼tsp |
Red Chili | -2 |
Method:
- Peel the skin cut very thin slices and keep it aside.
- Take a vessel heat with oil add seasoning fry without burning.
- Now add mango sauté for 1 or 2 minutes then add water and salt.
- Cook until mango get soft.
- Now add brown sugar cook for another 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add cardamom powder and veepam poo let it cook for 1 minute then turn off the stove.
- Serve it.
Note:
- This preparation for Tamil new year.
- If you do not have neem flower, it can be avoided.
- You can increase or decrease the brown sugar depending upon sourness of the mango.
- Original recipe is made with jaggery.
- You can use either dry or fresh neem flower. Below is the picture of dry neem flower.
Special Note:
For the Tamil new year you can make kathirikkai, muringakkai, mangai, neem flower sambar.
