Ingredients:
Coconut Grated | -1/2 cup |
Red Chili | -3 |
Asafotida | -1/4tsp |
Mustard | -1/2tsp |
Urad Dhal | -2tbsp |
Curry Leaves | -few |
Salt | -to taste |
Water | -to grind |
Oil | -1tbs |
Tamarind | -small marble size |
Method:
- In a pan heat oil, add mustard let it crackle, then add urad dhal fry it until light brownish.
- Next add red chili, asafetida and curry leaves and fry it 30 seconds.
- Now add coconut then turn off the stove, the coconut should not change color, therefore do not fry it for too long.
- Then grind it in the mixie with tamarind, salt and water.
- Grind very coarsely not into a very fine paste.
- Serve with idly, dosa, hot white rice with ghee or thengai pal kanji.
