Ingredients:
For shell:
Rice Flour | -1cup |
Water | 1cup |

For Stuffing:
Urad dhal(soaked) | -½ cup |
Green chili | -3 or 4 |
Salt | -to taste |
Method for making shell:
- Take a vessel boil with water.
- Boil until bubble comes up.
- Then add salt, oil and rice flour stir it well for 1 to 2 minutes until it’s become a round ball then turn off the stove.
- Take that rice dough cover with wet cloth let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Take that dough mix nicely with hand like very smooth dough.
- Make small size balls and keep it aside and cover with wet cloth.
- Now ready for make the kozhakkatai.
Method for make the stuffing:
- Grind all the ingredients given above for stuffing like coarsely with little water .
- Take a pan heat with 4tbsp oil add mustard, curry leaves and asafetida fry without burning.
- Then add 2tbsp of grated coconut and ground paste.
- Cook well for 4or 5 minutes and mix it well.
- Cook until it not stick to the bottom(it will take 1 or 2 minute more).
- Now ready for make the stuffing.
Method for making kozhakkatai:
- Make the small balls from the dough and keep it aside.
- Make the small balls from the stuffing.
- Apply little oil with your hand take the dough shape like small cup and keep the stuffing inside and close the dough securely, make sure the stuffing won’t come out.
- Make the all kozhakkatai and steam it like 15 to 20 minutes in the steamer.
- Then serve it.
Note:
- Use plain raw rice flour(pacharisi mavu).
- If you want you can soak the raw rice and grind with water and cook it and use it.
- If you don’t have fresh grated coconut you can use dry coconut powder.
