Ingredients:
Idly Rice or Boiled rice | -1cup |
Thoor Dhal | -1tbsp(optional) |
Coconut Grated | -2tbsp |
Salt | -to taste |
Water for grinding | -½ cup |
Seasoning:
Oil | -2or3tbsp |
Mustard | -1tsp |
Urad Dhal | -½tsp |
Channa Dhal | -1tsp |
Red Chili or Green chili | -3 |
Curry Leaves | -few |
Asafotida | -¼tsp |
Onion chopped | ¼ cup(optional) |
Method:
- Wash the rice and dhal, soak it for 3-4 hours and grind coarsely with salt water.
- Take a pan heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning.
- Now add onion sauté for 1 minute on medium flame.
- Then add the ground paste, sauté well until all water will observe become like a chapatti dough. Keep stirring the mixture otherwise it will stick to the bottom.
- Now add the coconut and mix it well.
- Now turn off the heat and let cool down the mixture.
- Take a steamer or idly cooker and boil with water.
- Take the mixture make a like lemon size ball, you can make the balls into either round or oval shapes or both.
- Steam it for about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Serve hot with chutney or idly powder.
Note:
- Instead of boil rice you can use the raw rice also.
- While grinding the rice you can add 2 tomato for extra flavor.
