Ellu Podi (White Sesame seeds Powder)

Serving: 2 cups | Type : Podi/ Powder/ Masala

Ingredients:

Red Chili

-10

Urad Dhal

-1/2 cup

Urad Dhal with skin

-1/2 cup

Ellu ( Sesame Seeds)

-1 cup (White)

Asafotida

-1/2 tsp

Salt

– 2 tsp

Method:

      1. Take a pan, and place it on medium heat and dry roast the Ellu until it get toast it to gets red in color.

      2. Keep it aside and allow it cool.

      3. Now toast the red chilli for few seconds and keep it aside.

      4. Then dry roast both dhals until it get toasted on low flame until it gets brown in color.

      5. Then at the very end, add asafotida and salt.

      6. Mix it and turn off the stove.

      7. Allow all of ingredients to completely cool.

      8. Then powder roasted dhals and red chili coarsely.

      9. Now add the toasted Ellu and powder it on pulse mode so doesn’t grind too smoothly.

      10. Store it in the air tight container.

      11.  When ready to used mix it hot white rice.

Notes:

1. If you cannot find Urad dhal with black skin, you can use the regular urad dhal.
