Ingredients:
Mochai | -1 cup |
Thoor Dhal | -¼ cup (cooked) |
Chili Powder | -½tsp |
Coriander Powder | -½tsp |
Turmeric | -¼tsp |
Onion | -2tsp(Diced) |
Salt | -to taste |
Water | -1 cup |
Seasoning:
Oil | -1tsp |
Urad Dhal | -½tsp |
Cumin | -½tsp |
Red Chili | -1 |
Curry Leaves | -few |
Method:
- Peel the skin of the pod and take out the seeds, just like fresh peas.
- Pressure cook dhal for 2 whistles and turn off the stove. Dhal should be ¾ cooked.
- Take a vessel, pour water, mochai, all powders, onion and salt boil it until vegetable cook soft. Cover the pot with a lid while it is cooking.
- Now add cooked dhal and cook for 2 minutes.
- Take another pan heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning.
- Add into the cooked vegetable, then turn off the stove.
- Serve hot with rice.
Note:
- You can use frozen mochai also.
- If you like grind coconut 2tbsp and cumin 1/2tsp add into the koottu.
- In Hindi it’s called surti-val papdi or valoure papdi. You can find in the Indian groceries frozen section.
- Instead of thoor dhal you can use mung dhal also.
