How To Prepare The Nagarathar Pillayar Nombu Izhai (Thread)

Required Items:

Cotton Cloth

Method:

        1. First blow Sangu three times.

        2. Take a cloth, tear it lengthwise on one side of the cloth. This will allow you to pull the threads apart from the cloth.

        3. Take one nool(thread) of 18 inches length from the cloth and keep it aside.

        4. Repeat the above steps until you have 7 noolgal (threads).

        5. Combine all 7 noolgal together.

        6. Next cut the combined threads into 3 equal parts.

        7. Combine 3 equal parts of threads to get 21 noolgal in total

        8. Cut the ends.

        9. Cut these 21 noolgal into 5 pieces(for a family of four), each pieces about 1 ¼ : inch.

        10. Place each group of the thread on the plate.

        11. Now izhai is ready for pillayar noombu.

        12. Make the mavu like pillayar and place it in the middle apply with ghee.
