Kozhi Uppu Tharkkal (Chicken Dry Chili Fry)

Serving:4 |Type: Non-Veg Side Dish(chettinad)


Chicken (cubbed) -500 grams
Onion(chopped) -1 cup
Garlic(chopped) -1 whole
Chili Powder -1tsp
Turmeric -¼tsp
Salt -to taste
Coriander Leaves -2tbsp


Oil -3tbsp
Sombu -½tsp
Cumin -½tsp
Fenugreek -¼tsp
Red Chili(broken) -8 to 10
Curry Leaves -few
Kal pasi -few


  1. Take a heavy bottom vessel, heat with oil  add seasoning fry without burning.
  2. Now add onion, garlic, turmeric and salt saute well.
  3. Now add chicken saute well about 10 minutes then add chili powder  cook well until chicken get soft .
  4. While cook the chicken cover with lid.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  6. Serve with rice.


  1. Instead of chicken you can use goat or lamb.
  2. This is originally mutton recipe from chettinad.
