Masoor Mung Dhal Gravy

Ingredients:


Masoor Dhal -¾ cup
Whole Mung Dhal -2tbsp
Turmeric -½tsp
Green chili -3
Ginger -1inch
Salt -to taste
Coriander Leaves -few

Seasoning:


Ghee -1tbsp
Mustard -1tsp
Cumin -1tsp
Asafotida -pinch
Curry Leaves -few

Method:


  1. Pressure cook both dhal together in the cooker for 15 minutes and keep it aside.
  2. Pound the ginger and chili together and keep it aside.
  3. Take a pan heat with ghee add mustard let it crackle.
  4. Then add cumin, curry leaves and asafetida fry for a second.
  5. Now add green chili ginger mixer sauté for a second.
  6. Then add cooked dhal and turmeric mix well.
  7. Now add 1or 2 cups of water and salt.
  8. Let it boil for 5 to 10 minutes.
  9. Now add coriander leaves and turn off the stove.
  10. Now ready to serve with roti, Naan or jeera rice.

Note:

  1. Masoor Dhal is known as orange Lentils.
  2. Whole Mung Dhal is known as Whole Green Gram Dhal.
