Plain Pongal And Paruppu Masiyal

Serving: 2 |Type: Rice

Ingredients:

Long Grain Rice (Raw Rice) -½ cup
Milk -¼cup
Water -1 ¾ cups
Salt -to taste

 

Method:

  1. Wash the rice keep it aside in a vessel.
  2. Take a pressure cooker with water and place the vessel inside the pressure cooker.
  3. Add the water and milk with rice.
  4. Cook for 3 whistles and simmer for 10 minutes then turn off the stove.
  5. Cool down the cooker, then open it add salt and mash it well.
  6. If it is very thick add little water keep it in the stove cook for 2 or 3 minutes then turn off the stove.
  7. Now ready to serve with paruppu masiyal and ennai katharikkai kuzhambu.

Paruppu Masiyal (Green Gram Dhal Gravy)

 

Pasi Paruppu (Green Gram dhal) -½ cup (cooked)
Red Chili 1 piece
Garlic 1 clove (crushed with skin)
Cumin ¼ tsp
Curry leves Few
Turmeric a pinch
Ghee ½ tsp
Salt To taste

Take the cooked pasi paruppu mash it well with salt,  turmeric, crushed garlic, and curry leaves. Next rub some cumin on your palm and put it in the mixture.  Mix it together and  add 1/2tsp of ghee on the top. This does not need any more oil or seasoning.

Note:

  1. You can cook the rice without cooker, you can place the rice in a pot.
  2. Add everything together without salt and  cook it about 15 to 20 minutes in medium flame then add salt at the very end.
