Appala Kuzhambu(Plain Pappad Tangy Gravy)

 

Serving: 4 | Type: Veg-Gravy

Ingredients:

Appalam Broken -3 to 4(Round)
Tomato(Cut) -1cup
Green Chili -2
Tamarind -lemon size
Sambar Powder -2 to 3tbsp
Turmeric -¼tsp
Salt -to taste

 

Seasonings:

Sesame oil -3tbsp
Mustard -1tsp
Urad Dhal -1tbsp
Chana Dhal -1tbsp
Brown Chana -2tbsp
Red Chili -2
Asafotida -¼tsp
Curry Leaves -few

 

Method:

  1. Soak the tamarind with  cup of water, squeeze out the pulp and keep it aside.
  2. Take a pan heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning.
  3. Add green chili, tomato, turmeric and salt sauté until tomato get mash.
  4. Then add sambar powder and tamarind mix well.
  5. Add 2 cups of water boil it until raw smell goes, then  add appalam cook it for 3 to 5 minutes.
  6. Then turn off the stove.
  7. Serve with white rice.
  8. If you like you can add 1tsp of brown sugar.
