Vazhakkai Poriyal (Raw Plantain or Banana Fry)

Ingredients:

Vazhakkai -1
Salt -to taste
Tamarind -1tsp paste
Turmeric -1/4tsp
Water -1 cup

Seasoning:

Oil -1tsp
Mustard -1/2tsp
Urad Dhal -1/2tsp
Red Chili -1
Curry Leaves -few
Asafotida -pinch(optional)

Method:

  1. Peel the skin and cut the plantain into cubes.
  2. Boil the vegetable with water, salt, turmeric and tamarind for about 5 minutes until it get soft.
  3. Drain the water and keep the vegetable aside.
  4. Take the pan heat with oil add seasonings and fry it without burning.
  5. Add the cooked vegetable to it and fry it for about 2 minutes then turn off the stove.
  6. Serve hot with rice.

Note:

  1. If you don’t have a tamarind paste, just add about 1 inch piece of tamarind.
