Senaikizhangu-Suran Poriyal(Elephant Foot Yam Fry)

 

Serving: 3 | Type: Veg-Side Dish

Ingredients:

 

Suran -1 can
Chili Powder -1tsp
Turmeric -¼tsp
Salt -to taste
Sombu -½tsp
Garlic -1

Seasoning:

Oil -2tbsp
Mustard -1tsp
Curry Leaves -few

Method:

  1. Drain the water from the can and wash it.
  2. Then marinate with chili powder, turmeric and salt for 1 to 2 hour.
  3. Pound the  sombu and garlic and keep it aside.
  4. Take a pan heat with oil add seasoning fry without burning.
  5. Now add pound sombu and garlic fry for few seconds then add marinated suran mix well.
  6. Cook for 5 to 10 minutes on medium flame.
  7. Then turn off the stove.
  8. Serve with white rice.

Note:

  1. In USA you can get only can senaikuzhangu.
  2. If you find fresh one you have to remove the skin and cut and boil it then make the poriyal.
  3. Most people get itchiness for the tongue.
