Fish Kurma

Serving: 4 to 6 / Type: Non veg Gravy

Ingredients:

Tilapia Boneless cut -3 slices
Garlic Peeled -3 pods
Ginger Peeled -1 inch
Green Chili -1 slit
Curry Leaves -1 springs
Cardamom whole -1 (inside seeds only)
Oil -1 tsp
Onion Diced -1 cup
Sombu( somfu) -1/2 tsp
Jeera (cumin) -1/2 tsp
Black Pepper -1/2 tsp
Cinnamon -1inch
Turmeric -1/4 tsp
Coconut Milk -1 cup thick
Salt -to taste
Lemon Juice(optional) -1tsp
Coriander Leaves -few

Seasonings:

Oil -1tsp
Onion Diced -1/2 cup
Curry Leaves – 1 Spring

Method:

  1. Take a pan heat with oil add ginger, garlic, curry leaves, green chili, cardamom fry for 30 seconds,and take out from the pan and put in the blender.
  2. That same pan with same oil add sombu, jeera, pepper ,cinnamon, fry for few seconds the add diced onion saute for 30 seconds to 45 seconds on medium flame, then add turmeric mix well then turn off the stove put it in the blender with previous ingredients.
  3. Let it cool down. Then grind it with little water very smoothly and keep it aside.
  4. Take a fish wash it and add ¼ tsp salt and ¼ tsp turmeric mix it well and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  5. Now take a pan heat with oil add onion and curry leaves saute until translucent without burning.
  6. Now add fish just toss it for a minute then add ground paste and 1 cup of water. Let it boil for 1 minute.
  7. Mix it well,add salt, then add ½ of the coconut milk.
  8. Keep it medium flame boil it for another 1 or 2 minute.
  9. Now add remaining coconut milk and coriander leaves let it sir for 30 seconds then turn off the stove.
  10. Check the salt then add lemon juice.
  11. Serve with white rice, Aappam, Idiyappam, Mint Rice, Tomato Rice Idly Dosa Ect.

Note:

  1. I use frozen Tilapia fish from Costco, you can use any fish you like.(boneless)
  2. I used Can coconut milk , If you want you use fresh coconut milk,( thick milk)
  3. You can add green chili and black pepper according to your spice level.
  4. If you use Frozen fish ,take out from the freezer for 2 hours the cut it and use it.
  5. I used Normal Cooking oil, But if you use coconut oil it taste very good.
