Channa (Chole)


Serving: 4| Type: Veg Gravy/ Kurma




Channa(boiled) -2cups
Onion(chopped) -1
Tomato(chopped) -1
Tomato paste -2tbsp
Green chili -1
Red chili Powder -1tsp
Channa Masala -2tsp
Salt -to taste
Coriander leaves -few
Butter and oil -4tbsp


Sauté and grind:

Onion(chopped) -1cup
Tomato(chopped) -1cup
Green chili -2
Garlic -5pods
Ginger -small piece
Clove -4

  1. Take a pan heat with oil add onion, green chili, garlic, ginger and clove sauté for a minute on medium flame.
  2. Then add tomato sauté for a minute.
  3. Let it cool then grind and keep it aside.
  4. Take a heavy bottom pan; add ghee and oil sauté onion and green chili for a minute.
  5. Then add tomato and salt sauté until it get mash, and then add tomato paste sauté for a minute.
  6. Now add red chili powder mix well until raw smell goes then add ground paste.
  7. Sauté for 3 minutes then add boiled Channa with water.
  8. Boil it for 5 minutes then add Channa masala mix well boils it for another 2 minutes.
  9. Then turn off the stove.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Serve with Bhatura.



  1. If you don’t have channa masala you can add whatever masala you like.
