Chicken Kuzhambu (Chicken Gravy)

Serving: 2 |Type:  Non-Veg Gravy/kuzhambu


Chicken Pieces -300 grms
Onion -1 cup (chopped)
Tomato -1 cup (diced)
Ginger & Garlic paste -1 tsp
Chili Powder -1 tsp
Coriander Powder -2 tsp
Turmeric Powder -1/4 tsp
Salt -to taste
Water -2 cups
Coriander Leaves -2 tbsp
Garam Masala -1 tsp
Green Chili -2


Aniseed(sombu) -1/2 tsp
Cumin -1/4 tsp
Fenugreek -1/4 tsp
Cloves -2
Cinnamon Stick -1 inch
Black Stone Flower (kal pasi) -few
Red Chili -1
Curry leaves -few
Oil -3 tbsp


  1. In the pan heat  the oil and add all of the seasonings, let it fry.
  2. Add onion, ginger, garlic paste and green chili fry well for about 1 minute.
  3. Now add tomato, salt and turmeric sauté well until tomato gets smashed.
  4. Add chicken pieces sauté well, cover with lid and cook about 10 minutes on medium heat.
  5. Now add all the masala powders and stir well, then add water cook until chicken get soft.
  6. Turn off the stove.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  8. Serve hot with rice or chappathi.
