Coconut Fudge (Coconut Burfi)Thengai Burfi

Serving:  15-20 pieces| Type: Sweet/Deepavali Sweets


Desiccated coconut -1/3 cup
Ghee -3tbsp
Sugar -2/3 cups
Milk(Warm) -1/4 cup
Vanilla extract -1tsp
Water -to immerse the sugar


  1. In a mixe, grind the coconut with only milk.
  2. Heat a non-stick deep pan with sugar and water
  3. Let the sugar melt until you get one string consistence (Touch the sugar syrup between your thumb and index finger; it should be able to pull one string between your finger, if you slowly pull your finger apart).
  4. After the sugar, comes to one string consistency, add the ground coconut paste.
  5. Now keep it medium heat, stir it continuously.
  6. Add the ghee and the vanilla extract.
  7. The mixture will start coming together without sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  8. In the meantime grease a tray with ghee or melted butter.
  9. The turn off the stove.
  10. Pour the mixture onto the tray and then smoothen the top.
  11. Allow it cool down and then you can cut it into piece of your liking.
  12. You can store this in an airtight container for a week.
