Kavuni Arisi(Sweet Black Rice)

Serving:2 |Type: Sweet-Chettinad

Ingredients:

Kavuni Arisi -½ cup
Sugar -½ cup
Grated Coconut -3tbsp
Ghee -2tbsp

Method:

  1. Take a pressure cooker keep the rice in the bowl with 1 cup of water.
  2. Boil it until 3 whistle come then keep it on simmer for 10 to 15 minutes then turn off the stove.
  3. Let the cooker cool down .
  4. Then open it and mix the rice. Place it back in the cooker .
  5. Turn on the stove keep cook for 1 whistle, then keep it on simmer for 5 minute and then turn off the stove.
  6. After the cooker cools down, open it and take the cooked rice and mix sugar, coconut and ghee.
  7. Mix it well and serve it.

Note:

  1. You can soak the rice for 7 to 8 hour and therefore the rice only need to cook for a lesser time.
  2. If you want you can increase or decrease the sugar.
  3. This sweet is chettinad special.
  4. In USA you can get this rice at all oriental stores.
