Masala Pongal(Ram Kichadi)

Ingredient:



Mixed Vegetables -2 cups
Rice -1cup
Mung Dhal -¼ cup
Green Chili -3(slit)
Tomato(Diced) -1
Onion(Diced) -1(optional)
Chili Powder -1tsp
Garam Masala -1tsp
Turmeric -¼tsp
Salt -to taste
Coriander leaves -few

Seasoning:

Oil -3tbsp
Mustard -1tsp
Urad Dhal -1tsp
Cloves -3
Cinnamon -1inch
Bay Leaves -2
Curry Leaves -few

Method:

  1. Take a pressure cooker heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning.
  2. Add tomato, green chili, pinch salt and turmeric sauté well then add vegetables saute for 3 minutes .
  3. Wash the rice and mung dhal together then add it with this .
  4. Now add chili powder, garam masala and remaining salt mix well.
  5. Then add 3 to 4 cups of water and cover with lid.
  6. Let 2 whistle come then keep it simmer for 5 minute then turn off the stove.
  7. Let cool down the cooker then open it and stir it.
  8. Garnish with2 tbsp of ghee and coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot with Gujarati Kadi or butter milk kuzhambu.

Note:

  1. Some people  called as Gujarati Kichadi.
  2. You can use mung dhal with skin.
