Pilakkai Koottu (Young Jackfruit Gravy)

Ingredients:

Pilakkai -1 cup (cubed)
Thoor Dhal -¼ cup (cooked)
Chili Powder -½tsp
Coriander Powder -½tsp
Turmeric -¼tsp
Onion -2tsp(Diced)
Salt -to taste
Water -1 cup

Seasoning:

Oil -1tsp
Urad Dhal -½tsp
Cumin -½tsp
Red Chili -1
Curry Leaves -few

Method:

  1. Peel the skin and cut the pilakkai into cubes.
  2. Pressure cook dhal for 2 whistles and turn off the stove. Dhal should be ¾ cooked.
  3. Take a vessel pour water,  pilakkai, all powders, onion and salt
  4. Place a lid and boil it until vegetable cook soft.
  5. Now add cooked dhal, mix it well, and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Take another pan heat with oil add seasonings fry without burning.
  7. Add into the cooked vegetable, then turn off the stove.
  8. Serve hot with rice.

Note:

  1. If you can not find fresh pilakkai you can use canned young jackfruit.
  2. If you like you can grind coconut 2tbsp and cumin 1/2tsp. Add into the koottu.
