Thiruvathirai Kali in Slow cooker/Crock pot



Serving: 3 to 4| Type: Sweet/ Rice variety/ Specialty


Raw Rice -1 cup
Mung Dhal -2tbsp
Brown Sugar -1 ½ cup
Grated Coconut -2tbsp
Ghee -3tbsp
Cashew nut -10
Cardamom powder -¼ tsp
Salt -¼ tsp
Water -3 cups



  1. Dry roast Rice and dhal Separately until brownish.
  1. Now powered it coarsely.
  2. Take a pan heat with ghee fry cashew nut  and keep it aside.
  3. In the Same ghee add grated coconut and fry it until light brown.
  4. Take a slow cooker add 3 cups of hot water.
  5. Add ground rice and dhal powder mix it well with salt.
  6. Close it with lid and keep it high.
  7. It will take 1 ½ to 2  hours to cook.
  8. Now add brown sugar mix it well.
  9. Let it cook for 20 minutes.
  10. Now add fried nuts and coconut, and cardamom powder.
  11. Mix it well.
  12. Serve with Thalagam.
