Badusha(Indian donut)

Serving: 12 to 15 pieces |Type: Sweets

Ingredients:

 

Maida Or All propose flour -1 ½ cup
Crisco or butter -4tbsp
Baking soda -¼tsp
Salt -pinch
Water -for knead
Oil -for frying

 

Syrup:

 

Sugar -1 cup
Water -¾ cup

 

Method:

 

 

 

 

  1. Take a broad vessel add Crisco or butter and baking soda mix together using palm of your hand it becomes forthy and shiney. It will take about 10 to 12 minutes.
  2. Now sprinkle maida and salt gently  mix it like crumbles.
  3. Now sprinkle water and make a  soft  dough. (it should be very soft, not hard dont knead the dough)
  4. Rest it for the dough about 10 to 20 minutes cover with wet cloth.

  1. Take a lemon size ball and flatten each ball and make a small dipression in the center with your thump.
  2. Shape all badushas like that and keep it aside.
  3. Take a  pan heat with oil.
  4. Oil should be very moderately hot .

  1. Add few badushas and fry it on medium flame, don’t disturb it while frying the badusha , if its cooked, badusha will come up then turn it cook it until bothsides turn brown.
  2. Do It again on all badushas. Pierce all badushas with a toothpick in the centre. Because the sugar syrup will go inside.

  1. Meanwhile take another pan add sugar and water make the syrup.

  1. Sugar syrup should be  one string consistency.
  2. If you test with your finger it will stick like one thread.
  3. Then turn off the stove. Let it cool for 5 minutes.

  1. Then soak the fried badusha for 5 minutes or until it absorb sugar syrup take out then arrange it on the flat surface.
  2. Meanwhile sugar syrup get very thick add ¼ cup of water and boil it then soak the badusha.
  3. Then take from the syrup and let it dry for 10 to15 minutes.
  4. Again do the process for second coating cook for thick syrup. If you want more sweet.
  5. If you like you can decorate on top of the badusha with nuts are raisins.

Note:

  1. While frying the badusha its melting in the oil means water is not enough for kneading the dough.
  2. Instead of butter or Crisco you can add pure ghee(clarified butter).
  3. If you are in India you can use Dalda.
  4. In india while making sugar syrup add 1tbsp of milk. Dirt will come up you can take out all the dirts.
  5. To maintain the temperature which is important for succesful badusha.
