Instant Adai Mix


Serving:3 | Type: Breakfast


Boiled Rice -¼ cup
Thoor Dhal -½ cup
Channa Dhal -½ cup
Mung Dhal -2tsp
Urad Dhal -2tsp
Red Chili -5 to 7
Sombu(optional) -½tsp
Cumin -½tsp
Asafotida -¼tsp

Mixing Ingredients:

Onion(Chopped) -½ cup
Green Chili(chopped) -1
Coriander Leaves(chopped) -3tbsp
Curry Leaves -few
Turmeric -¼tsp
Salt -to taste
Grated Coconut(optional) -2tbsp


  1. Grind dryly rice, red chili, sombu, cumin and asafotida  into a smooth powder (do not add water).
  2. Then grind all dhals into coarse powder (not very coarse), do not add water.
  3. Mix together with 1 ½ cup water and keep it aside for 4 to 5 hours.
  4. Then mix all the ingredients given above.
  5. Heat the tawa and pour 1 big spoon (Kuzhi Karandi) of batter and spread it into round shape.
  6. Then sprinkle little oil on top of the adai and cook for 1 or 2 minute on medium flame.
  7. Then turn it other side and cook it until it gets brown.
  8. Now ready to serve with any chutney.


  1. Thuvaram paruppu, kadalai paruppu, pasi paruppu, ulutham paruppu.
  2. This adai mix can be ground in bulk quantities and store it in a dry place.
