Kadugu (Mustard) Kuzhambu

Ingredients:

Kadugu(mustard) -2tbsp
Sesame Oil -3tbsp
Mustard,Urad dhal -½tsp each
Fenugreek -½tsp
Curry Leaves -few
Red Chili and Green Chili -1 each
Tamarind -small lemon size
Garlic(cut) -10 to 15 pods
Sambar Powder -2 to 3tbsp
Turmeric -pinch
Salt -to taste
Jaggrey or sugar -1tbsp

Method:

Kadugu Kuzhambu Boil

  1. Soak the mustard for 2 to 3 hours and grind with little water and keep it aside (grind smoothly).
  2. Soak the tamarind with ½ cup of water and squeeze out the pulp and keep it aside.
  3. Take a pan heat with oil add mustard, fenugreek, curry leaves and chili fry without burning.
  4. Then add garlic sauté for few minutes with salt until it gets soft.
  5. Now add ground mustard paste fry until raw smell goes.
  6. Then add sambar powder, turmeric mix well and sauté for a minute.
  7. Now add tamarind pulp and mix well.
  8. Cook it until raw smell goes.
  9. Now add sugar then turn off the stove.
  10. Serve with white rice.

Note:

  1. If you want you can add 1 tbsp store bought Vatha Kuzhambu powder along with sambar powder.
